The scholarship supports the attendance and presentation of doctors and other health professionals from developing countries at the ACEM ASM.
About the scholarships awards grants 2020:
The ACEM scholarship is to support attendance and presentation at the ACEM Annual Scientific Meeting and to increase awareness and support for emergency medicine in developing countries.
The International Scholarship aims to increase awareness and support for emergency medicine in developing countries.
By nomination of a FACEM or trainee, the scholarship is designed to help increase the recipient’s skills and understanding of emergency medicine systems and standards throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Eligibility:
To be eligible to submit a nomination the nominator:
- Must either be a Fellow or trainee of ACEM in good standing of the College
- Have developed linkages with the nominee through previous international emergency medicine development activities in the nominee’s country
- Willing to accept responsibility for arranging a suitable program for the nominee (in liaison with the International Emergency Medicine Committee Administrator)
- Attend both the ACEM College Ceremony and ASM as a personal host of the nominee.
To be eligible for nomination the nominee must fulfil the following criteria:
- A doctor or other health professional from developing countries
- An actual or potential leader in the development of emergency medicine in their country
- Secured a committed sponsor who will host them and arrange their program
- Present on the challenges and opportunities relating to the development of emergency medicine in their country at the ACEM Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in the relevant year
- Give permission for ACEM to use their ASM presentation, and personal and professional information, including a photograph, for the purposes of publishing in the ASM program and other promotional material
- Is able to apply for his/her visa to travel to Australia/New Zealand prior to 31 July in the year of the application.

Selection Criteria:
A Panel from the International Emergency Medicine Committee reviews applications and the ACEM Foundation awards the scholarship, all based on the following criteria:
- Present at the Annual Scientific Meeting
- Actual or potential leadership capacity in emergency medicine in the nominee’s country
- Engagement in an area of work that would benefit from the opportunities and learning experiences at the ASM
- Explanation of the value of the scholarship for the nominee, their environment and their country
- Well-established relationships with FACEMs and is from a country with strong linkages with Fellows of the College
- Have a reference from a Fellow or trainee of ACEM.
Preferable
- Scope for the FACEM sponsor (or other FACEMs) to support the development of emergency medicine in the nominee’s country
- Fom region which is a priority for the College
- Desn’t have significant support from other sources
- No previous record of attendance at any major emergency medicine conference(s).
Number of Awards: Up to six each financial year.
Value of scholarships awards grants 2020:
Benefits include:
- AUD$8,000 per recipient, with a maximum of AUD$50,000.
- The scholarship is to be used to cover the return economy-class airfares, visa, accommodation, travel and living expenses while the recipient(s) are in Australia or New Zealand.
- The Scholarship may include visiting emergency departments within Australia and New Zealand to help increase the scholarship recipients skills and understanding of emergency medicine systems and standards throughout Australasia.
- The recipients are presented with a certificate of the scholarship at the College Ceremony held in November every year.
Obligations include:
- Responsible for arranging a suitable program for the scholar (in liaison with the International Emergency Medicine Committee Administrator)
- Provide a report detailing the scholar’s experience to the ACEM Foundation by 1 February of the year following the scholarship.
Duration of Program: The expected length of stay is seven (7) days.
Application Deadline: 12th May 2020.

Glenmore Medical Online Postgraduate Scholarship Eligibility:
Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh on 1 of the eligible Human Medical programmes (listed above) and should have firmly accepted that offer or be intending to do so. They must be nationals of eligible developing countries included in the DAC List of ODA Recipients for reporting on aid in 2021.
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the strength of a personal statement. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, the overseas equivalent of a UK first-class honours degree.

Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program
Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program. The 2021 Application Period will open on March 22, 2021 and close on May 21, 2021 for developing country nationals.
Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program:
The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is open to women and men from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts who are applying to a master degree program in a development-related topic.
Host Institutions/Programs of study:
JJWBGSP offers scholarships for 48 Participating Programs at universities in U.S., Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan in key areas of development, including economic policy management, tax policy, and infrastructure management.
Target group:
Developing country nationals of World Bank Member Countries
Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:
A JJWBGSP scholarship provides tuition, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and travel allowance.
Please note all JJ/WBGSP scholarships cover the duration of the graduate program or two years, whichever is less.
Eligibility:
The applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be a national of a World Bank member country on this list;
• Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country;
• Be in good health;
• Hold a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree earned at least 3 years prior to the Application Deadline date;
• Have 3 years or more of recent development-related work experience after earning a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree;
• Be employed in development-related work in a paid full- time position at the time of submitting the scholarship application. Have at least 3 years of paid development-related employment since earning a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent university degree) and acquired within the past 6 years from the date of the Application Deadline.
• On or before the Scholarship Application Deadline date, be admitted unconditionally (except for funding) for the upcoming academic year to at least one of the JJ/WBGSP participating master’s programs located outside of the applicant’s country of citizenship and country of residence listed at the time the call for scholarship applications opens.
The letter of admission must be uploaded before submitting your application.
• Not be an Executive Director, his/her alternate, and/or staff of any type of appointment of the World Bank Group or a close relative of the aforementioned by blood or adoption with the term “close relative” defined as: Mother, Father, Sister, Half-sister, Brother, Half-brother, Son, Daughter, Aunt, Uncle, Niece, or Nephew.

The 2021 Application round will open on 22 March 2021.
To be considered for a JJ/WBGSP scholarship, you must first apply and be unconditionally accepted for admissions to at least one of the Participating Programs.
The scholarship application must be submitted online before 21 May 2021.
In your application, YOU NEED TO UPLOAD AN UNCONDITIONAL LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE from a participating master’s degree program.

- unable to afford to study your chosen course without this scholarship.

You must apply to study an eligible master’s course at a UK university that is participating in the Distance Learning scheme.
Please see the full list of participating universities and eligible courses.
You must also apply and secure admission to your university course in addition to applying for a Distance Learning Scholarship.
You must check with your chosen university for their specific advice on when to apply, admission requirements, and rules for applying.
You must make your application using the CSC’s online application system, in addition to any other application that you are required to complete by your chosen university. The CSC will not accept any applications that are not submitted via the online application system.
You can apply for more than one course and/or to more than one university, but you may only accept one offer of a Distance Learning Scholarship.
All applications must be submitted by midday 17:00 PM (BST) on 26 April 2021 at the latest.
Your application must include the following supporting documentation by 17:00 (BST) on 10 May 2021 in order for your application to be eligible for consideration:
- At least one reference– submitted directly by the referee to the online application system (referees will be sent an email request)
- An offer letter to start their chosen course of study in the 2021-2022 academic year – uploaded to the online application system
- Full transcripts detailing all your higher education qualifications (with certified translations if not in English) – uploaded to the online application system
The CSC will not accept supporting documentation submitted outside the online application system.
