Global Network Initiative (GNI) Fellowship Program: Call for Applications:- Internews’ Global Technology team and the Global Network Initiative (GNI) warmly welcome applications for the next one-year GNI-Internews Fellowship Program, which seeks to further online freedom of expression and privacy around the world by facilitating collaboration and conversation among diverse stakeholders.

Global Network Initiative (GNI) Fellowship Program: Call for Applications Eligible Countries: 

organizations based in South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

Three to six one-year fellowship grants of $10,000 USD to $20,000 USD will be awarded to organizations based in South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

Fellowships include funding to participate in four GNI board meetings and networking events, and engage in GNI activities, including but not limited to: participation in policy and learning calls on digital rights issues; development of policy analysis papers; and attendance at regional multi-stakeholder meetings.

Fellows will engage directly with a wide variety of information and communications technology (ICT) company representatives within GNI’s unique multi-stakeholder platform.

By participating in this Global Network Initiative (GNI) Fellowship Program: Call for Applications, organizations will gain insight into company decision-making, build relationships with company representatives and other GNI members, gain knowledge through members-only meetings and discussions, and have the opportunity to contribute their expertise to GNI’s unique global multi-stakeholder forum.

Eligibility: 

We welcome applications from established organizations as well as newcomers to the digital rights space. To be considered, applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Based in South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, or Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Demonstrated experience or interest and aptitude for working on freedom of expression and privacy issues in the ICT sector
  • Able to attend three in-person meetings and one remote (call-in) event, as well as preparation calls.
  • Willing to designate one member of the applying organization to be the main point of contact for this fellowship.

Recommended Qualifications

In addition to the aforementioned required qualifications, applicants with the following experience should strongly consider applying:

  • Prior engagement with one or more of GNI’s four policy priorities:

    • Network Disruptions
    • Intermediary Liability
    • Surveillance
    • Jurisdictional Assertions and Limits

Number of Awards: 3-6

Value of Award: fellowship grants of $10,000 USD to $20,000 USD

Duration of Award: 1 year

How to Apply: 

Applications should be submitted by an individual who would participate in the fellowship on behalf of that individual’s organization. The deadline for applications is 5pm EST on October 10, 2019.
Applications must be submitted through the application Google Form.

Swire Scholarships 2021

The Swire Scholarships at St Antony’s are generously funded by the Swire Charitable Trust, founded by John Swire & Sons. Four fully funded scholarships are available to graduate students demonstrating exceptional academic merit and/or potential who will commence study on a course offered by St Antony’s College in 2021/22.

Eligibility

The scholarships are open to applicants who are permanent residents of JapanChina or Hong Kong and have completed the majority of their formal education in their country of permanent residency.

The Scholarships will be awarded primarily on academic merit, although financial need may be taken into account.

Scholars must intend to return to their country of permanent residency after completing their course of study. 

Preference will be given to applicants who plan to pursue a career in government, business, academia or a recognised profession.

Applicants must apply for admission to a full-time graduate course of study that is offered by St Antony’s College to start in 2021/22 except those listed below. St Antony’s College accepts students in a wide range of subjects in Social Sciences and Humanities Divisions. Our graduate courses page gives a list of the subjects we accept.

Please note that applicants for part-time courses, or applicants for the MBA (Master of Business Administration) or the MPP (Master of Public Policy) are not eligible to apply. 

Applicants must meet the requirements for entry to their course, including English language requirements. See the University’s course guide for more information.

Benefits of the Swire Scholarships 2021:

  • 100% of the course fees, a grant for living costs of £17,442 per year (2021/22 rate).
  • Economic airfares to and from London are provided at the beginning and end of the scholarship.
  • The award is made for the full duration of a student’s fee liability for the agreed course. If a scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the continuation of the scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based upon satisfactory academic process.

How to Apply for the Swire Scholarships 2021

In order to be considered for this scholarship, candidates must submit their application for graduate study to the University by the January deadline (8th or 22nd January 2021 depending on the programme applied to – check the University’s guidance on application deadlines) and must have secured a place on their chosen programme of study by the completion deadline (2nd March 2021).

It is helpful if candidates select St Antony’s College in the ‘College choice’ section of the application form, though this is not compulsory.

Please note that incomplete and ineligible applications will not be considered for the Swire Scholarships.

Carnegie Mellon University Masters Scholarships:- The scholarships will be awarded to eligible students from Asia, South America and Africa and apply for Carnegie Mellon University Australia master programs in August 2020.

About the Carnegie Mellon University Masters  Scholarships Award:

The Carnegie Mellon University masters scholarships will be for three (3) categories. The different categories are as follows:

1. Young Asian Leaders Scholarship (YALS)

The scholarship will enable Asian students to lead and contribute to the development of their countries and the Asian region after their studies.

2. South American Leaders for Change Scholarship (SALCS)

The scholarship will support South American students to become leaders to catalyse positive change in their respective countries.

3. Future Innovator Scholarship for Africa (FISA)

With this scholarship, ambitious African students will be encouraged to be leaders in innovation in the African region.

Eligible Countries: Countries in Asia, South America and Africa

To be Taken at (Country): Australia

You may also apply for the Sweden International Scholarship 2020.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this scholarships, all students must meet following criteria as stated below:

  • Be a citizen of a country in Asia, South America or Africa
  • Meet the admission requirements for a CMU Australia full-time master coursework degree, 12 month or 21 month tracks
  • Be accepted into a CMU Australia master coursework degree commencing in August 2019 or August 2020
  • Accept CMU Australia’s offer letter and pay the deposit by required deadline

Number of Awards:

The number of scholarships to be awarded for the year 2020 is not made known by the scholarships providers. In this regard, we recommend you apply correct to be among the lucky winners. See application process below.

Value and Duration of Awards: 

The CMU Australia Scholarships for International Students is valued at AUD $30,000 for the duration of 21-month masters degrees, and AUD $20,000 for the duration of 12-month masters degrees.

The deadline is 15th June, 2020

Scholarship 2020:- The UFL Elisabeth Strouven Scholarship offers €30,000. This allowance is a contribution towards your Master goals and includes costs of living, tuition fees, visas and insurance.

About the UFL Elisabeth Strouven Scholarship 2020 Award: 

The Master in Global Health is an innovative, one-year English-language programme that addresses the complex relationships between health, healthcare, technology, international business, economic development, politics, the socio-cultural environment and management on a global scale.

Students and staff take part in both physical and virtual exchanges between the participating universities:

  • Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand
  • Manipal University in Manipal, India
  • McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

During a two-week Learning Symposium, all Global Health students come together – [possibly] in a developing country – to exchange ideas and experiences and to lay the groundwork for future collaboration.

  • The Elisabeth Strouven scholarship is open to talented young students registered for the the Master in Global Health at Maastricht University (September 2020).
